Before the DNR reconsiders this area for logging, it's important that we let our state officials know how passionate we are on this subject.

Please take the time to email as many individuals as you can. Below is a contact list with messaging ideas. Feel free to use our sample messages.

Please let the Board know that you support the county's efforts to save structurally-complex forests. These woods are a priority for you and carbon capture is a viable alternative to clear cutting.

THE BOARD
OF NATURAL RESOURCES

General Message: The DNR can choose to save forests for carbon capture instead of logging old growth. The parcels previously known as "Bears U1 and U2" are prime examples of a carbon-dense and structurally complex forest. The ecosystem around McLane Creek Nature Trail is important to you. (Expand on why it’s important to you.)  Urge them to protect this area for generations to come.

Friends of McLane supports the complex ecosystem around the McLane Creek Nature Trail, which is nestled between Black Lake and the Black Hills. We acknowledge through time immemorial that this land is located on the traditional, nomadic, and ancestral home of both the Nisqually and Squaxin people whose history, culture, and environmental stewardship continue to influence this vibrant community. We are humbled and honored.
